Vijayawada ACB court on Thursday extended Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu's remand up to October 19th in connection with the alleged skill development scam.

Previously, Naidu's legal detention was prolonged by the court until October 5. He was initially placed under a 14-day judicial custody on September 10, after being presented to the court by the Andhra Pradesh CID. Naidu had been apprehended by them in the early morning of September 9 in connection with a multi-crore 'scam' case.

The situation pertains to purported improper allocation in the creation of clusters of Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in Andhra Pradesh, having an overall presumed project cost of ₹ 3,300 crore.

Officials from the agency asserted that the supposed fraud resulted in a massive financial loss for the Andhra Pradesh State government, exceeding ₹ 300 crore.

On Saturday, Naidu filed a petition to the Supreme Court to dismiss the FIR lodged against him regarding the case, as his request for the same was declined by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

According to the CID, Naidu was the main instigator implicated in the purported ₹ 371 crore skill enhancement fraud.

The CID's remand report has declared that the combined expenses of six private skill development clusters amount to ₹ 371 crores. This funding was derived exclusively from the Government of AP and AP Skill Development Centre, based on their ongoing investigation.

Naidu was apprehended, and charged under various IPC sections such as criminal conspiracy, cheating, dishonesty, and forgery as stated in the notice. Additionally, the Andhra Pradesh CID has accused him of violating the Prevention of Corruption Act. The notice was issued in accordance with CrPC Section 50 (1) (2).
