Chandrababu Naidu to Assume Office as Andhra Pradesh CM; PM Modi to Attend
In a significant political development, N. Chandrababu Naidu is poised to assume the role of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for the fourth time. The swearing-in ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, is expected to be a high-profile event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP Chief J.P. Nadda among the distinguished attendees. The ceremony will mark a pivotal moment in Andhra Pradesh's political landscape.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with J.P. Nadda, arrived at Gannavaram Airport and was welcomed by Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, TDP's general secretary. Their visit underscores the significance of this occasion, further highlighted by Shah's social media post congratulating Naidu on the NDA's substantial victory and expressing anticipation for the oath-taking ceremony.
The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, S. Abdul Nazeer, extended an invitation to Naidu on Tuesday to form the government. This came after a day filled with crucial meetings where the Telugu Desam Legislature Party and NDA partners unanimously chose Naidu as their leader. In his address to legislators, Naidu reaffirmed his commitment to developing Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh's sole capital.
The oath-taking ceremony is meticulously scheduled for 11:27 am near Medha IT Park, opposite Gannavaram Airport in Kesarapalli, on the outskirts of Vijayawada. This event not only signifies Naidu's return to power but also showcases the collective aspirations of the TDP and its allies for the state's future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's attendance has been confirmed, with his itinerary indicating departure from Delhi at 8:20 am and arrival at Gannavaram Airport by 10:40 am. The ceremony is expected to run from 11 am to 12:30 pm, after which Modi will depart for Bhubaneswar.
Notably, the new cabinet under Naidu is anticipated to include key figures such as Janasena Chief Pawan Kalyan, who has reportedly been offered the deputy CM post, and other prominent leaders from TDP and BJP. The composition of the cabinet reflects the strategic alliances within the NDA, aiming for a balanced representation in line with the assembly's strength.
Special invitations have been extended to farmers who contributed their land for the Amaravati capital project and individuals who faced challenges during the previous YSR Congress regime. This gesture highlights Naidu’s focus on inclusivity and reconciliation as he prepares to lead Andhra Pradesh once again.
Naidu’s political journey has been marked by significant milestones. He first became Chief Minister in 1995 and led united Andhra Pradesh until 2004. After the state's bifurcation, he emerged as the Chief Minister of the newly formed Andhra Pradesh in 2014, serving until 2019. Following a hiatus as the opposition leader, his triumphant return in 2024 underscores a remarkable political resurgence.
The recent elections witnessed a decisive victory for the NDA under Naidu’s leadership, capturing 164 assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats out of 25. This landslide win not only reinstates Naidu’s governance but also sets a new direction for Andhra Pradesh’s development trajectory.
However, amidst these preparations and celebrations, there remains ambiguity regarding an invitation to outgoing CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for the swearing-in ceremony. The YSRCP has yet to respond to queries on this matter.
This transition marks a new chapter for Andhra Pradesh under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership. With a strong mandate and a vision for development, all eyes are on how this tenure will unfold and shape the state’s future.
