Precautions During Sutak

Temples across India have closed their doors due to the eclipse. Deities' idols are covered to protect them from any negative effects during this time. In Uttarakhand's Chamoli district at Shri Badrinath Dham temple doors were shut at 12:30 PM and will reopen post-eclipse.

The Sutak period began at 12:57 PM today. During this time religious activities are avoided hence temples remain closed until 1:26 AM when both Sutak and the eclipse end.
Special Considerations for Vulnerable Groups

Sutak for children elderly and pregnant women starts at 6:35 PM. These groups receive special allowances meaning they need not fast or follow strict restrictions. However they should avoid being alone outside or visiting isolated places until after the eclipse ends.
