"We called both the accused for interrogation. It was a lengthy interrogation. A number of things have come to fore in today's interrogation. Thus we have decided to press two charges - attempt to abduction (365/511). Both shall be produced in the court on Thursday, said DGP TS Luthra addressing a press conference.
"There are a number of things for which we need the accused to reconstruct the scene of crime to verify many facts. I can't share many things that are part of investigations. I have shared the conclusion of our investigations done so far," he said.
Further he said that there is no political pressure on us and we are doing everything professionally and objectively. We will do "everything under the sun" to ensure the 29-year-old complainant gets justice.
Varnika Kundu, daughter of Haryana Additional Chief Secretary VS Kundu, had on Friday alleged that Vikas and his friend Ashish stalked her.
Vikas Barala was on Wednesday summoned by the Chandigarh Police in connection with the stalking case.
Subhash Barala has earlier said that his son would fully cooperate with the investigation.
"Vikas has left for Chandigarh to join the probe, he will fully cooperate...We respect the law, Vikas has cooperated in the probe earlier as well," Subhash Barala had earlier said.
Chandigarh DGP Tejinder Luthra earlier said Vikas Barala refused to accept the notice because of which it had to be pasted on the wall of his residence.
"Accused refused to give their blood and urine samples. Such refusal will be held against them in the investigation and trial," he told media. "Everything under the sun will be done to ensure justice," he added.
The Chandigarh police on Monday claimed that there were no CCTV footage of Subhash Barala's son stalking the daughter of a senior IAS officer. Then later, the footage was retrieved late Monday night after the police had faced criticism for saying that the CCTVs along the route of the incident were not working.
However, the probe has not taken off as the footage that was retrieved was of poor quality. The police are finding it hard to ascertain whether an attempt to kidnap was made as was alleged by Varnika.
