CEO Who Groped Woman On Flight Not Associated With Company Anymore: Jindal Steel Clarifies

Jindal Steel and Power Limited on Saturday announced that the person, who is accused of groping a woman on a flight, is not part of the company anymore.

"We wish to inform that Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi had resigned from his position as Director of the Company, effective from the close of business hours of March 28, 2023," Hindustan Times quoted Jindal Steel and Power Limited as claiming in a letter to the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange of India Limited.

"Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi is no longer associated with the Company in any capacity," it added.

As per the company's website, Saraogi is the CEO of Oman-based Vulcan Green Steel, a subsidiary of the Jindal Steel Group. The company has now formed a committee to probe the matter, Hindustan Times has learnt.

Ananya Chhaochharia, founder of Paint it Red (an NGO working for menstrual rights), claimed Sarogi of sexually assaulting a woman on a Kolkata-Abu Dhabi flight and while drawing the attention of Jindal Steel promoter and BJP MP Naveen Jindal.

Chhaochharia, In a post on X, claimed that Saraogi, seated next to her, started a "very normal" conversation that later turned to a discussion about her hobbies. She wrote, "He asked if I enjoyed watching movies, and I said yes. He then said he had some movie clips on his phone. When he showed me, it turned out to be PORN!"

Chhaochharia further alleged that Saraogi began groping her, which left her in shock and fear. She ran to the washroom and reported the incident to the flight crew, who acted promptly.

She tagged Naveen Jindal in her post, who responded by assuring that "strictest and necessary" action would be taken and that an investigation would be conducted.

"Thank you for coming forward and speaking up! It takes immense courage, and I want you to know that we have a zero-tolerance policy for such behaviour. I have instructed the team to investigate immediately and take the strictest action required," Jindal added.
