Centre Designates Hizb-Ut-Tahrir As A Terror Organization, Announces Amit Shah

On Thursday, the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took a measure against terrorism by labeling 'Hizb-Ut-Tahrir' as a terrorist entity. This move underscores the administration's unwavering stance on combating terrorism with absolute intolerance. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made the announcement on the social platform X, emphasizing that this group has engaged in terror acts.

These include radicalizing susceptible young individuals to join terrorist factions and gathering funds for terrorist endeavors, thereby posing a significant threat to India's national security and sovereignty. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a gazette notification that sheds light on the gravity of the situation. It accuses Hizb-Ut-Tahrir (HuT) of leveraging social media, secure communication apps, and organizing 'Dawah' meetings. These activities aim at encouraging young people to commit acts of terrorism. The notification further elaborates that HuT's objective is to establish an Islamic state and caliphate worldwide, including India, by toppling democratically elected governments through jihad and terrorism. This ambition poses a dire threat to the democratic structure and internal security of India.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took a significant step against this organization on Wednesday. They apprehended a key suspect in Tamil Nadu linked to HuT for spreading discontent and secessionism. This individual promoted the anti-India ideology of HuT in Puducherry, highlighting the active efforts to undermine the country's security. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges that the Indian authorities face in curbing terrorism and its propagators.

Hizb-Ut-Tahrir, established in 1953 in Jerusalem, operates as a global pan-Islamic movement. With its headquarters in Lebanon, the group's influence spans over 30 countries, including notable ones like the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and Australia. Despite its wide reach, the organization has been notorious for applauding and heralding attacks against Israel and Jews. Consequently, several countries, including Germany, Egypt, the UK, and others in Central Asia and the Arab world, have already banned HuT due to its subversive activities.

The declaration by the Indian government marks a critical step in its ongoing fight against terrorism, mirroring its commitment to protect the nation's integrity and security. By designating Hizb-Ut-Tahrir as a terrorist organization, the Modi administration sends a clear message of its resolve to combat and dismantle the networks and ideologies that threaten peace and democracy.
