Centre Endorses N Chandrababu Naidu's Proposal for Godavari-Pennar River Interlinking Project

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) announced that the central government has accepted Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's proposals. These include linking the Godavari and Pennar rivers and re-engaging Singapore in building Amaravati, the state's capital. TDP MP Lavu Krishnadevarayalu shared this after Naidu's discussions with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Centre Backs Naidus River Interlinking Proposal

Naidu's meeting with the Union ministers also covered other significant topics. He discussed the potential effects of the new US administration on India's economy and Indian students studying in the US. Additionally, he highlighted that Andhra Pradesh has shifted from 'Ease of Doing Business' to 'Speed of Doing Business' to enhance economic growth.

Government Support for Key Projects

The central government has approved the river interlinking project, which is vital for Rayalaseema's development. This decision marks a significant step forward for the region. The Union finance minister also promised full cooperation to complete the Polavaram project, according to Krishnadevarayalu.

In his meeting with Jaishankar, Naidu sought to revive Singapore's involvement in constructing Amaravati. The external affairs minister agreed to this request, indicating a positive outlook for future collaboration. Naidu expressed his gratitude on X, stating that the Ministry of External Affairs would continue supporting Andhra Pradesh's development goals.

GST Relaxation Request

Naidu requested a one per cent GST relaxation for Vijayawada due to recent heavy rains affecting the area. The finance minister agreed to this proposal, providing some relief for the region. This decision reflects the Centre's willingness to assist Andhra Pradesh in overcoming challenges posed by natural calamities.

The TDP, an important ally of the BJP-led NDA, received a favourable response from the Centre regarding Naidu's appeals. The overall reaction was positive, indicating strong support for Andhra Pradesh's developmental initiatives.

Naidu's efforts highlight his commitment to advancing Andhra Pradesh's infrastructure and economy. By securing central support and international partnerships, he aims to drive growth and improve living standards in the state.
