Central pay hike disappointing: CPI-M
New Delhi, June 30: The pay hike for central government employees has been disappointing, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) said on Thursday,(June 30).
Based on the Seventh Central Pay Commission's recommendations, "there is only an increase of 14.2 percent in the emoluments in terms of gross salary and the increase in the take-home pay is just 7.4 percent for the lowest category", it said in a statement.

"The central government has deferred the decision on the revision in allowances. The ratio between the lowest and the highest scale continues to be wide with the ratio being 1:14," it added.
The CPI-M said it was unfortunate that the government did not consider it worthwhile to have discussions with the employees' organisations before making the announcement on salaries and pension.
