Celebrate Onam with the mouthwatering big feast, sadhya
Malayalis celebrated Onam by enjoying the feast called sadhya. Sadhya is served in a banana leaf with traditional vegetarian dishes.
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 4: Happy Onam to all OneIndia readers! As Malayalis and their friends across the globe celebrated the festival with great gusto on Monday, it's the traditional delicacies, lovingly called as Onam sadhya, which once again hogged the limelight (seriously, it is good to see hungry souls gorging on some of the finest dishes).
Welcome to the grand feasting of Onam, where in one plate (here in a shining piece of banana leaf) you are served some of the most-mouthwatering dishes, traditional vegetarian food.
However, it's not all about vegetarian food. Meat lovers always make it a point to enjoy mutton, chicken, fish and eggs along with the sadhya. After all, why deny meat lovers their soul food.
Those who are unaware about Onam sadhya, it's a special festival food, which contains fries, curries, chutneys, rice, papad fry and payasam, to name a few dishes, served on a banna leaf.
During Onam, revellers enjoy food at their homes with families and friends. There are also a few groups that arrange Onam sadhya for the foodies. Others eat to their fullest in hotels and restaurants that host Onam sadhya.

Onam is not only about eating and more eating. Of course, Malayalis celebrate the occasion with enthralling boat races, traditional art forms and a pookalam (colourful and intricate design made out of flowers) in each courtyard.
On social media too, everyone wished each other on the occasion of Onam. Here we bring you a few tweets:
