Ceasefire Crumbles Within Hours As Pakistan Violates Truce Along LoC

Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement along the International Border and Line of Control (LoC) at several locations on Saturday, mere hours after both countries had agreed to a truce.

According to an India Today report, the Border Security Force (BSF) has been instructed to retaliate with full force in the event of any further breaches.

The escalation came shortly after India confirmed a ceasefire agreement had been reached following truce talks initiated by Islamabad. The Pakistani government also acknowledged the agreement soon after.

Multiple explosions were reported in Srinagar, where a blackout has been imposed. Drones were shot down in both Rajasthan's Pokhran and Baramulla in Kashmir.

The Pakistan Army launched artillery fire across the International Border in the Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura sectors. Violations were also recorded along the LoC in the Palanwalla sector of Jammu.

In Baramulla, a drone was intercepted and other unidentified aerial vehicles (UAVs) were observed. Blackouts have been enforced in Baramulla and Srinagar, and drone sightings were reported in Rajouri. An air raid siren was also triggered in the Samba district of Jammu.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media, writing, "What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!"

"This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in central Srinagar have just opened fire," he added, posting footage of the drone attack.

Earlier in the day, the government had made a surprise announcement stating that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire, ending the military hostilities that followed the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. The agreement was reached during discussions held between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations on Saturday afternoon, following Pakistan's outreach.
