CCTV footage: Murder convict jumps jail walls, surrenders in an hour
Narsinghpur (MP), July 24: A CCTV footage at a jail in Madhya Pradesh caught a jail convict jumping the walls and running to his freedom in broad daylight.
30 year old Pankaj Pahade is serving a life term for killing his own aunt. He, however, surrendered himself in an hour. Prison authorities realised that he was missing only when a headcount was done before the prisoners returned to the barracks.
The panicky jail officials scanned the CCTV footages for his whereabouts when they saw how he had easily jumped off the high walls. He climbed one wall, balanced precariously on another, and dragged himself on his way to freedom.
Putting the blame on a security constable for not being at his vigilance spot that day, jail superintendent, Amit Mishra, said,"The constable on duty is at fault as he was not at this post, because of which Pankaj could escape. We have informed the police and they are looking for him."
Pankaj was transferred from a jail in Chinchwada six months ago. He surrendered at the same jail that announced a prize money of Rs 10,000 on him.
