CBI Grills Ex-Principal Sandip Ghosh: Doctor's Parents Forced To Wait 3 Hours In Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the state-run RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) interrogated former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh for the fourth consecutive day, as reported by PTI.

Dr. Ghosh, who resigned two days after the horrific incident, citing moral responsibility, was called to the CBI's city office at CGO Complex on Monday.

The CBI's line of questioning focused on why Dr Ghosh allegedly made the victim's parents wait for over three hours after they were informed of their daughter's death. Additionally, he was asked about his initial reaction upon learning of the crime and whom he contacted first, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Despite his resignation, Dr. Ghosh was swiftly appointed as the head of another medical college, a move that was later annulled by the Calcutta High Court. The court criticized the state government for not making him the primary person of interest in the case from the outset.

The CBI is leaving no stone unturned in its investigation, scrutinizing Dr Ghosh's call records and WhatsApp conversations. The agency is also probing why renovations were ordered in the rooms near the seminar hall where the crime took place. The 31-year-old victim was found dead in the seminar hall after working for over 36 hours. The police have since arrested Sanjoy Roy, a Kolkata police civil volunteer, in connection with the crime, as per media reports.

The victim's father, in an emotional interview, revealed that despite arriving at the hospital shortly after being notified of his daughter's death, he was not allowed to see her body until hours later. As the CBI deepens its investigation, the focus remains on uncovering the full extent of the events leading up to this tragic incident.
