Cauvery row: Technical committee likely to file report in SC today
New Delhi, Oct 17: The high level technical committee is likely to submit its report to the Supreme Court on Monday on the Cauvery Waters issue.
The committee was directed by the Supreme Court to study the ground level situation in the Cauvery basin in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
The court had directed the committee to submit its report on October 17. The committee headed by G S Jha, the chairman of the central water commission in the Ministry for Water Resources, visited dams and catchments areas in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu last week.

On the last date of hearing, the Centre had told the court that it could not be directed to set up the Cauvery Management Board. The Centre said that this is a function of the legislature and not the judiciary.
The court will hear this matter separately. The court had also directed Karnataka to release 2,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu between October 7 and 18. The Supreme Court will hear the matter on Tuesday.
