Husband Allegedly Thrashes, Spits On And Assaults Wife In Front Of Son; Woman Later Dies By Suicide | WATCH

A shocking case from Jaipur has sparked outrage after a 36-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide following prolonged harassment and domestic abuse by her husband, who works as an Executive Engineer (XEN).

The woman, identified as Anu Meena, reportedly died by suicide at her home in the Balaji Vihar area while on a video call with her husband, Gautam Meena.

Weeks after her death, CCTV footage allegedly recovered from her mobile phone showed disturbing scenes of physical assault and destruction inside the house, leading police to register a case of abetment to suicide against the accused husband.

CCTV Footage Allegedly Reveals Repeated Violence

According to police officials, the CCTV footage recovered from the victim's phone allegedly shows Gautam Meena physically assaulting Anu inside their home.

Investigators said the videos also show him shouting aggressively, damaging household items, and smashing an LED television during arguments.

In one clip, the woman is reportedly seen falling outside a room while a child stands nearby witnessing the incident.

Police sources claimed earlier CCTV recordings had allegedly been deleted regularly from the surveillance system, raising further suspicion during the investigation.

Family Accuses Husband Of Dowry Harassment

According to the complaint filed by Anu's brother Neeraj Meena, the couple got married in July 2015 and lived together in Jaipur with their two children.

The family alleged that despite spending nearly Rs 60 lakh on the wedding, Gautam Meena continued to harass Anu for dowry after marriage.

The complaint further claimed that the accused frequently consumed alcohol, physically assaulted both Anu and the children, and repeatedly threatened to marry another woman.
According to the family, another Rs 20 lakh was allegedly given to Gautam in 2022 in an attempt to stop the harassment and maintain peace in the marriage.

Allegations Of Violence Increased In Recent Months

Family members alleged that Gautam's behaviour became increasingly aggressive over the past few months.

According to the complaint, he often returned home intoxicated and assaulted Anu almost daily.

One particularly serious allegation states that on March 13, Gautam allegedly locked Anu and the children inside a room, left the gas stove switched on, locked the house from outside, and left the premises.

The family claimed Anu later managed to contact an acquaintance, who helped rescue them from the house.

Dispute Over Domestic Worker Led To Major Conflict

The complaint also mentions an alleged incident during Diwali in October 2025 that reportedly worsened tensions between the couple.

According to the family, Anu allegedly found Gautam in an objectionable situation with a domestic worker while they were visiting their native village in Chomu.

After being confronted, Gautam allegedly became violent and physically assaulted her.

The family claimed Anu escaped from the house and took shelter at a relative's home nearby before informing her family members about the incident over the phone.
Relatives later intervened and attempted to resolve the matter after Gautam allegedly assured them such behaviour would not happen again.

Suicide Took Place During Video Call

Police said Anu died by suicide on April 7.
According to reports, she allegedly used her chunni to hang herself while speaking to her husband on a video call.

Her death initially remained under investigation, but the situation changed significantly after her family reportedly recovered CCTV footage from her mobile phone nearly one-and-a-half months later.

The footage allegedly documented repeated incidents of assault and abuse inside the house.

Police Begin Investigation

Police have now registered a case against Gautam Meena and launched an investigation into the allegations.

The case has once again brought attention to issues of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and emotional abuse faced by many women behind closed doors.
The incident has also triggered emotional reactions online, with many people demanding strict action and stronger protection systems for victims facing abuse within marriage.
