Caught on cam: Machete-wielding gang vandalises medical shop, attacks staff in Pune

A shocking video of a machete-wielding gang vandalising a medical shop and attacking its staff has gone viral. The incident occurred in Maharashtra's Pimpri-Chinchwad on Saturday.

In the clip doing rounds on social media sites, a group of six men barges into the shop, and vandalise it before attacking the staff with machetes. The incident was captured on CCTV which has now gone viral.

One person was injured in the incident and he is currently undergoing treatment at YCM Hospital of the Municipal Corporation.

Reports claim that they had damaged some vehicles in Kamngar Nagar too before entering the medical shop.

The notorious group is called 'koyta gang' as they carry weapons and attack people with machetes. In the last four months, over 100 such incidents have been reported, according to NDTV.

The rise of such incidents has worried the localities while leaving netizens in a state of shock.

Similarly, another video had gone viral in December where the gang brandished machetes and indiscriminately assaulted people near Sinhagad Law College in Pune.

It has to be noted that there was uproar in the Maharashtra assembly earlier over such incidents. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had issued instructions to the Maharashtra Police to take strict action against the gangs.

"Pune Pimpri Chinchwad needs 5000 more Police personnel to be on the streets patrolling the city and making it safe for public," a netizen responded over the incident.

Another user suggested, "Every shop owner should keep weapons to save themselves."

Third user commented, "Is the guy in yellow T-shirt alright? It looks like a personal matter coz they didn't hit the guy in red."

A netizen said,"It's time government allows arms to protect ourselves from them. It will be a bloodshed in the beginning but things would settle eventually."

One user slammed the government and said, "Wow... it's a free land now in Maharashtra... anybody can carry Guns Swords Knifes openly and terrorise... great achievement by double engine."
