Caught On Cam: Andhra MLA Assaults Voter After Questioning Him For Jumping Queue

In a shocking incident, an MLA from the ruling YSRCP A Sivakumar attacked a voter in Tenali in Guntur district. The incident was caught on camera.

Accoriding to ANI, the voter, who was standing in a queue to cast his vote, objected to the MLA's attempt to jump the line and cast his vote without waiting.

The MLA, in turn, physically assaulted the voter.

The entire incident was caught on camera and the video has gone viral.

Voting is underway in Andhra Pradesh for the state's 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats. As voters queue up to cast their ballots, the polling hours are from 7 AM to 6 PM, except in certain areas where voting will conclude one or two hours earlier.

With a total of 4.14 crore voters in the state, comprising 2.02 crore males, 2.1 crore females, 3,421 third-gender voters, and 68,185 service electors, the election has drawn significant participation.

A total of 454 candidates are competing for the Lok Sabha seats, while 2,387 candidates are contesting for the Assembly positions, according to Andhra Pradesh's Chief Electoral Officer, MK Meena.

In the previous Assembly elections, the YSRCP secured 151 seats, the TDP won 23, and Janasena claimed one seat. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling party won 22 seats, while the Chandrababu Naidu-led party secured three seats.

In the Assembly polls, YSRCP President Jagan Mohan Reddy is vying from Pulivendula, TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu is contesting from Kuppam, and Janasena Chief and actor Pawan Kalyan is in the race from Pithapuram.

On the Lok Sabha front, Andhra Pradesh Congress President and Jagan's sister YS Sharmila is running from Kadapa, while BJP State Chief Purandeswari is contesting from Rajamahendravaram, among others.
