Over Rs 18 Lakh Seized by Noida Police in Election Code Crackdown
In a significant operation across Noida and Greater Noida, law enforcement agencies have confiscated over Rs 18.50 lakh in cash in five distinct incidents within a span of 24 hours. This action comes as part of the stringent enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, according to police reports released on Tuesday.

The police disclosed that a substantial sum of Rs 11.90 lakh was recovered from three individuals during routine checks by a flying squad team alongside officials from the Kasna police station. The interceptions occurred at the Dadha roundabout in Greater Noida, with the largest single recovery amounting to Rs 10 lakh from one vehicle. The driver of this car, identified as Rajan Yadav from Delhi's Harsh Vihar, was found with 2,000 notes of Rs 500 denomination in vehicle DL 14 CH 0001.
Further details revealed by the police spokesperson included the seizure of Rs 1 lakh in cash, comprising 200 notes of Rs 500 denomination, from a car driven by Sahdev Singh (DL 3 CCM 1785). Additionally, Rs 90,000 were confiscated from another vehicle (UP 16 DF 7473) operated by Vijay Chaprana.
Earlier actions saw the FST and Badalpur police station officials seizing Rs 1.74 lakh in cash from a car under the Dhoom Manikpur flyover in Greater Noida. The driver involved in this incident was identified as Amir Malik. Another operation led to the recovery of Rs 4.97 lakh from a vehicle (UP 14 DG 7040) at the NIB Cut in Sector 62 of Noida on Monday evening, with Maakhanjeet Singh being named as the driver.
The police have notified the Income Tax department regarding all these incidents, ensuring thorough communication and cooperation between departments. These efforts have significantly increased the total amount of unaccounted cash recovered in Gautam Buddh Nagar district to over Rs 54 lakh, showcasing the authorities' commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent electoral process.
Gautam Buddh Nagar is scheduled to go to polls on April 26, highlighting the importance of these operations in ensuring compliance with electoral laws and regulations. The proactive measures taken by law enforcement agencies underscore their dedication to upholding democratic values and preventing any undue influence on the electoral process.
