Fallen Hero Captain Thapa Receives Full Military Honours in Darjeeling

Captain Brijesh Thapa, who lost his life battling terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda, was cremated with full military honours in his ancestral village in West Bengal's Darjeeling district. A large crowd gathered to pay their respects, chanting "Brijesh Thapa Amar Rahe" as the ceremony took place.

Hero Captain Thapa Honoured in Darjeeling

Colonel Bhuwanesh K Thapa (Retd) shared that his son, a third-generation Army officer, had aspired to join the military since childhood. "I feel proud of my son. He did his duty," the retired officer told reporters. Captain Thapa's mortal remains arrived at his ancestral home at Jing Tea Estate in Lebong on Thursday.

Full Military Honours for Captain Thapa

Politicians from various parties, along with senior government and military officials, attended the cremation. The Indian Army's Trishakti Corps posted on X, "The valiant officer made the supreme sacrifice on 15th July 2024 while bravely fighting terrorists in Doda." Numerous Army and Civil dignitaries paid their respects to the brave officer.

Captain Thapa was 27 years old and had been serving in the Army for five years. He was among four army personnel who died after being injured in a gunfight with heavily armed terrorists in Doda. The Indian Army ensured that full military honours were accorded to him during the cremation.

The community's respect for Captain Thapa was evident as people from all walks of life came together to honour him. His dedication and bravery were remembered by many, highlighting his commitment to his duty and country.
