Can't hear demonetisation issue everyday says Supreme Court
The Supreme Court clarified to the petitioners that the main matter is up before it on November 25.
The Supreme Court refused to grant urgent hearing on a batch of petitions filed to challenge the decision of the government which declared Rs 500 and 1,000 notes as invalid. We cannot be hearing the demonetisation issue everyday, the court observed.
The Supreme Court clarified to the petitioners that the main matter is up before it on November 25. Hence there is no need for any urgent hearing on the matter. All the petitions will be taken up on November 25, the court clarified.
A batch of petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court seeking to reverse the government's decision on demonetisation. The court had on the last date of hearing observed that it would not interfere with the decision. It however asked the centre to provide steps to ease the pain of millions of citizens who were standing in queue to get their currency exchanged.
