Cabinet reshuffle: Jaitley keeps Finance; Goyal new rail minister

Arun Jaitley will continue to handle key portfolio of finance even after the Cabinet reshuffle, while Power minister Piyush Goyal who was newly elevated to cabinet rank, was on Sunday given charge of the railway ministry.

Goyal replaces Suresh Prabhu who had offered to resign after a spate of train accidents in the last month. However, Prabhu gets to manage the power portfolio.

After the big Cabinet reshuffle, Suresh Prabhu bids goodbye. Prabhu took to twitter to announce farewell. Prabhu also congratulated Goyal and three other Union ministers who were on Sunday elevated to Cabinet rank.

With swearing-in ceremony over, the Modi Cabinet has got nine new ministers and four others have been given Cabinet berth. Piyush Goyal, Nirmala Sitharaman, Dharmendra Pradhan and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi have been given Cabinet rank.
