Bye Bye KCR Trends On X As KCR-Led BRS Trails At Second Spot

Social media erupted as 'bye bye KCR' trended on X (formely known as Twitter),after early leads on Sunday showed the Congress ahead of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana. Initial counts on Sunday indicated the Congress leading in more than 65 seats, while the BRS trailed with 40 seats and the BJP secured 9 seats by 1:00 pm.

It must be noted that multiple exit polls have predicted a potential shift in power, signaling a possible end to KCR's tenure in India's youngest state. While some polls echoed the Congress's advantage, including an India Today-Axis My India projection, forecasting a potential comeback for the party, others like India TV-CNX indicated a return to power for the BRS with a predicted tally of 70 seats.

In the event of a hung assembly, the Congress focused on keeping its legislative members united and thwarting any attempts of MLA poaching. Historical precedents were cited, recalling instances where the BRS, despite earlier marginal victories, managed to lure opposition MLAs to bolster its strength.

In the 2014 elections, the then Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) secured a narrow victory with 63 seats, barely surpassing the majority mark. However, KCR swiftly expanded his support by attracting 12 MLAs from the Telugu Desam Party, eight from the Congress, three from the YSRCP, two from the BSP, one from the CPI, and an Independent.

The 2018 elections saw a similar narrative unfold as the BRS, despite securing 88 out of 119 seats, engaged in enticing opposition MLAs. Notably, they managed to draw 12 out of 19 Congress MLAs, alongside two TDP members and two Independents, further consolidating their position.

As the electoral tides continue to shift in Telangana, take a look at memes that were flooded on X.
