On Wednesday, six coaches of the 12506 Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express derailed near the Raghunathpur station in Buxar district, Bihar. The derailment occurred at approximately 9:53 pm and there was no immediate report on casualties according to a railway official.

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav issued a statement regarding the incident. He informed that he had directed both health and disaster management departments to take immediate action for providing relief to as many people as possible. He also stated that he had spoken with the district magistrates of Buxar and Bhojpur (where Ara is headquartered) instructing them to reach the site swiftly to expedite relief work.
The Journey of the Train
The train consisting of 23 coaches departed from Anand Vihar terminal in Delhi at around 7:40 am on Wednesday. As per Birendra Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway zone, less than half an hour after leaving Buxar station at around 9:30 pm while heading towards Ara, the accident took place. The derailment happened near Raghunathpur station where normally this train does not have any scheduled stoppage.
Immediate Relief Measures
Immediately following the incident, ambulances and doctors were rushed to the site for emergency medical aid. A scratch rake - a temporary rake with similar configuration as that of original train - was dispatched from Patna to ferry passengers away from the accident site.
"Medical teams have been sent immediately," confirmed Deepak Kumar, Inspector from Railway Police Force while addressing reporters. He added that local hospitals in Buxar town were alerted by district administration soon after receiving information about this mishap.
Although preliminary reports suggest no casualties so far, there is information that some passengers might have sustained minor injuries," Kumar mentioned. "We have dispatched rescue and medical teams to the spot."

In conclusion, this unfortunate derailment of North East Express near Buxar district in Bihar has caused a state of panic and urgency among railway officials as well as local administration. The swift response from all authorities involved in managing this crisis is commendable. However, it underscores the need for stringent safety measures to prevent such incidents which put numerous lives at risk.
