‘Roti Bank’: Know how this unique initiative guarantees right to food in UP

Lucknow, June 16: At a time when government is doing its best to feed the poor, one of an organisation in Uttar Pradesh is also contributing in its own way to achieve the mission.

Giving message that we will not leave you empty stomach, ‘Roti Bank', a unique initiative which has been started by a group of people in Mahoba district of the Bundelkhand .

According to a report, bank which works under the aegis of Bundeli Samaj provides home cooked, fresh food to needy people everyday. It is being managed currently by a group of 40 youngsters and 5 elders.

Reportedly, the youngsters make a door to door visit and asks families to give them rotis so that they could feed the poor and needy.

The initiative which was started in the month of April this year and used to feed beggars and the destitute in the beginning has now become a big movement in the area. Presently, it is feeding more than 400 people daily including patients outside the hospitals and poor on the roads.

Haji Muddan, who heads the group quoted by TOI as saying, "The only appeal we make to people is to provide fresh food. No stale food is entertained".

For people who finds it tough to meet with two times of end, the initiative is a big boon. They find these people as god sent. One of TB patient said, "I bless these boys from the core of my heart. They are God personified".

Seeing the good work, the group has been doing some caterers have also joined the movement recently.
