Bullets recovered from policeman's wife baggage at IGI Airport
New Delhi, Oct 3: A Delhi police official and his wife travelling to Srinagar were today briefly held at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here for allegedly carrying two live bullets in their baggage.
The airport police has registered a case in this regard and has let off the couple after it was found the act was inadvertent.
"Constable Jagbir Singh who is posted at IP police station was intercepted by airport security after two live cartridges were recovered from his wife's hand bag. He has explained that the act was inadvertent and he will be producing his weapon license to us," DCP (IGIA) DK Gupta said.
Officials said the bullets, of the 8-mm caliber, were recovered by CISF personnel during the scanning of the hand baggage of Singh's wife before they were supposed to take a private airline to Kashmir.
The incident was reported around 9:20am. Officials said people are let off in such cases after registering a case if there is nothing incriminating and the act is not doubtful.
