Budget doesn't reflect common man's aspirations: Opposition
New Delhi, July 10: Opposition parties Thursday criticised the union budget, saying it did not reflect the aspirations of the common man.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley presented his maiden budget Thursday.

"The budget does not reflect the aspiration of the common man. Most of the announcements are ministry programmes, which the finance minister is announcing encroaching upon their domain," Congress leader Veerappa Moily told IANS.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said it lacked direction.

"There is no policy direction in the budget. There are no clear measures to improve revenue deficit," Tharoor told IANS.

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar termed the budget disappointing.

"The announcements made in the budget are only a bouquet of words. There are no real measures," said Pawar.

Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav said: "It is a budget for the rich capitalists, not for the poor."

Concurred D. Raja of the Communist Party of India (CPI), who said it is a budget for the corporate.

"It is a budget for corporates and not for the common man. There is no substantial increase in the allocations for rural and social sectors schemes in it," Raja told IANS.
