Budget Delay Highlights Failures of Chandrababu Naidu's Super Six Schemes in Andhra Pradesh

YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for delaying the state budget. Reddy claims the budget was postponed to avoid scrutiny of unfulfilled election promises. He highlighted that the budget was delayed by eight months, with the state relying on interim budgets during this period.

Budget Delay Reveals Naidus Failures

Reddy accused Naidu of trying to hide the truth about the "Super Six" promises from the TDP's 2024 manifesto. These promises include a monthly pension for women, job creation or unemployment allowance, and free bus travel for women. Additional pledges involve financial aid for school children and farmers.

Allegations Against TDP

Reddy described Naidu as deceitful and accused him of orchestrating misinformation campaigns through media channels. He alleged that Naidu, along with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, whom he called Naidu's "foster son," spread lies using these platforms. Reddy claimed that these tactics were used to mislead the public.

The former CM defended borrowing within the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act limits, stating it is common among states. He countered claims that his government left a debt of Rs 14 lakh crore, asserting it was Rs 6.46 lakh crore based on NDA's estimates.

Financial Discipline and Investment Concerns

Reddy argued that his administration demonstrated better financial discipline than the TDP government from 2014 to 2019. He stated this was achieved despite COVID-19 challenges, showcasing their sincerity and transparency. He also alleged that the current government discourages investors.

He mentioned industrialist Sajjan Jindal's plans to set up a steel plant in Kadapa are being threatened. This, according to Reddy, reflects poorly on the state's investment climate under the current administration.

When asked about his sister YS Sharmila, who leads the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, Reddy dismissed discussing her. He noted her party holds only a 1.7 per cent vote share in the state, implying limited political influence.

Reddy's remarks underscore ongoing political tensions in Andhra Pradesh as parties prepare for upcoming elections. The accusations highlight key issues like financial management and unfulfilled promises impacting voter sentiment.
