Budget 2025: President Droupadi Murmu To Address Parliament On January 31

Budget 2025: The budget session of Parliament is set to commence on January 31, 2025. President Droupadi Murmu will address both Houses on this day, marking the start of the first part of the Budget session. This initial phase will run until February 13, 2025. The second segment will begin on March 10 and end on April 4.

Following the President's address, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget on February 1. An official notification from the Lok Sabha Secretariat stated, "The Fourth Session of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha will commence on Friday, January 31, 2025. Subject to exigencies of Government Business, the Session is likely to conclude on Friday, April 4, 2025."

The initial part of the Budget Session will include nine sittings from January 31 to February 13. During this period, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the Motion of Thanks for the President's address. Additionally, Finance Minister Sitharaman will reply to discussions regarding the budget.

After a recess for examining budget proposals, Parliament will reconvene from March 10. This phase focuses on discussing demands for grants from various ministries and completing the budgetary process by April 4. In total, there will be 27 sittings throughout the entire session.

In preparation for this session, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced an all-party meeting scheduled for January 30. He urged opposition leaders to cooperate in ensuring smooth discussions during the upcoming session. Rijiju also expressed optimism about Finance Minister Sitharaman presenting a balanced budget.
