BSP members walk out from Assembly over land acquisition issue
Lucknow, Jul 2: Accusing the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh of not fulfilling the promises made in its election manifesto for increased compensation to farmers on land acquisition, BSP members today walked out from the state Assembly.

Replying to a question asked by BSP member Dharmpal Singh, Cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav said a committee had been formed under state Chief Secretary to formulate rules and regulations for the land acquisition. He said that Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 was implemented in the state from Jan 1, 2014 but rules are yet to be formed.

Reminding SP of promises made in its assembly election manifesto that farmers would be given compensation at the rate six times of the circle rate, Leader of Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya said that the party had promised that no land of farmers would be acquired without their consent.

"The SP government has not fulfilled the promises made in its manifesto in the past two-and-a-half years. Its intentions are not good," Maurya said. Later, BSP members walked out of the House on the issue.
