BSF Digs Deep, Finds Nothing: Suspected Tunnel Turns Out to Be a Pit

Operation Based on Inputs

Acting on specific inputs, the BSF launched the search operation in Jaraie village of the Lalacheck border area. After several hours of digging near a deep pit, the troops did not find any evidence of a tunnel.

BSF Officer Dismisses Rumors

A senior BSF officer dismissed the rumors of a tunnel, stating that it was merely a pit and there was no cause for concern.

SSP Samba Clarifies

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Benam Tosh, also refuted the claims of tunnels in the area, emphasizing that it was just a hole. He assured that all agencies had conducted thorough checks and found no tunnels.

Security Measures Intensified

In light of the upcoming consecration ceremony of the Ram temple on January 22 and Republic Day, troops along the IB have been placed on high alert. Security measures in the border area have been intensified to prevent any untoward incidents along the borderline.

Night Curfew Imposed

To ensure better area domination by BSF troops and to thwart any nefarious activities near the borderline, a night curfew has been imposed along the IB in Samba district. The curfew aims to prevent cross-border infiltration and smuggling of weapons through drones, especially during the prevailing foggy weather conditions along the India-Pakistan border.

The BSF's search operation in Samba, prompted by reports of a suspicious tunnel, concluded without any findings. The authorities have reassured the public that there is no cause for concern and that security measures have been enhanced to maintain peace and stability in the border area.
