BSF Jawan Returns with Honour: PM Modi Slams Pakistan’s Propaganda Efforts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking during the Lok Sabha session, highlighted the honorable return of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw from Pakistan, lauding it as a testament to India's diplomatic strength and the morale of its armed forces.

Shaw had inadvertently crossed the border into Pakistan on April 23, a day after the terror attack in Pahalgam. He was captured by Pakistani Rangers, and images of him blindfolded were released online, prompting public concern and speculation. However, after sustained diplomatic engagement at the DGMO (Director General of Military Operations) level, Shaw was safely repatriated via the Attari-Wagah border on May 14-20 days after his capture.

"Despite Pakistan's efforts to misuse the incident for propaganda, our jawan returned with full dignity and honour," the Prime Minister said. He underscored that India's steadfast diplomacy and the resilience of its security forces ensured a respectful return for the soldier.

Strong Defense and Firm Response

PM Modi also addressed recent misinformation spread by Pakistan regarding the Adampur Air Base in Punjab. He revealed that Pakistan had attempted to fabricate narratives about the base. "To counter this deceit, I visited Adampur the very next day, on May 13, to boost the morale of our troops and to expose the falsehoods," Modi said.

He reaffirmed India's unwavering commitment to protecting its borders and standing firm against any hostile acts. "Our growing defense capabilities and the unity of our forces are our greatest strength," he added.

The remarks were seen as a direct message to adversaries and a reassurance to the nation about the government's proactive approach in safeguarding national security.
