BSF differs on Pak terrorists entry, says no evidence found

Jalandhar, Nov 30: On the Dinanagar terror attack in Gurdaspur district, the Border Security Force (BSF) today said that after thorough scanning of the Punjab border they have not got any physical evidence of entry of the three terrorists from Punjab border from Pakistan to Indian territory.

The BSF stand is contrary to the claims of Punjab Police, which is investigating the terror attack case and had claimed on the basis of initial investigation that Punjab border was used by the ultras to enter India.

Also, BSF claimed that Punjab Police had not yet shared any conclusive information with them about the investigation of the case.

"BSF has physically checked entire Punjab border but there were no physical evidence which could establish that the terrorists had used Punjab border for entering into Indian territory from Pakistan side," said BSF Inspector General BSF Punjab Anil Paliwal while replying to queries of media at Golden Jubilee celebrations of the BSF here.

Punjab Police had claimed after its initial investigation that the river area along the Indo-Pak border of Punjab was used to enter India by the terrorists.

The IG, however, stated that Punjab Police was investigating the case and they would be able to tell better about it.

When questioned whether Punjab Police had shared any conclusive information with BSF about the investigation in the case till date, he said no such information sharing had taken place but added quickly that Punjab police is still investigating the case.

"We have physically scanned each and every possible entry point along with the international border but not a single evidence could be collected about their entry from Punjab border to Indian side," he emphasised.

He also said that if any information about any involvement of the BSF employees are found in this attack then a stern action will be taken.

It may be noted that initial reports had said that the data gathered from Global Positioning System (GPS) showed that the three ultras had crossed over to Bamiyal town in Pathankot, which is close to the international border and then the terrorists entered India on the intervening night of July 26 and 27 and used Ravi river to cross over to Bamiyal from where they walked down to Amritsar-Jammu highway before coming to Dinanagar.

Four months back, the terror attack had shocked Punjab in which three terrorists were eliminated after about 12 hour long gun battle with Punjab police.
