BRS Leader K Kavitha's Bail Plea In Delhi Liquor Case: Here's A Big Update

In the money laundering case related to Delhi's alleged liquor scam, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Monday once again adjourned the hearing of Bharatiya Rashtriya Samiti (BRS) MLC K Kavitha's petition for default bail. K Kavitha is the daughter of BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao and the sister of Telangana's heavyweight leader KT Rama Rao.

According to the reports, the Delhi court has now rescheduled the bail plea hearing for August 5, 2024.

Earlier, on July 8, Kavitha's advocate told the court that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to file a complete charge sheet within the mandated 60 days as they do not have any proof against the BRS leader. They also had told the court that her arrest on April 11, 2024, was unlawful.

Reportedly, the court has also noted discrepancies in the CBI's charge sheet.

K Kavitha was arrested under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 167(2), which is a bail offense. The law allows CBI custody of only 60 days, which K Kavitha has already completed. She had been in jail for the last 86 days by July 6, which increased her chances to get bail.

Despite previous discussions on the matter, the court has given a last chance to CBI by adjourning the bail plea hearing to August 5.
