BRS Leader K Kavitha Sent To Judicial Custody Till April 23

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi on Monday sent BRS Leader K Kavitha to judicial custody till April 23 in connection with a corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam

On the extension of her judicial custody, the BRS leader said, "It is not CBI custody, it is a BJP custody. Whatever BJP is speaking outside, the CBI is asking the same inside, asking again and again for 2 years, nothing new..."

BRS leader K Kavitha was brought to Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court at the end of her CBI remand. She was recently arrested by the CBI in connection with the Excise policy case.

Opposing the police plea, her advocate Nitesh Rana said that the grounds were not sufficient to keep her in custody since she is no longer required for custodial interrogation.

The daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, she faces allegations of being a prominent figure in the "South Group." This group purportedly provided kickbacks of Rs 100 crore to the ruling AAP in Delhi in exchange for a significant portion of liquor licenses in the national capital.

CBI officials had recently questioned Kavitha inside prison after obtaining permission from a special court. The BRS leader was questioned about the WhatsApp chats recovered from co-accused Buchi Babu's phone and documents related to a land deal.

She was questioned inside the Tihar Jail on April 11.

On March 15, the ED had arrested Kavitha from her Banjara Hills residence in Hyderabad.

The agency has filed charge sheets against multiple accused individuals, including former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. The charges include allegations that kickbacks were returned to conspirators through various means facilitated by a cartel that had formed within the framework of the liquor policy, as per the media reports.
