BRO Leadership Inspects Infrastructure Projects on Jammu-Poonch Highway

In a significant development for regional connectivity, top officials from the Border Road Organisation (BRO) recently conducted a detailed review of the ongoing infrastructure projects along the 200-km-long Jammu-Poonch national highway. The inspection, which took place on April 8, was led by BRO Additional Director General (ADG) R.K. Dhiman and Chief Engineer Rahul Gupta. They were joined by Chief Engineer Project Sampark Brig Neeraj Madan. The focus of their visit was to evaluate the progress and quality of the construction work on this crucial stretch of road, including four key tunnels located in Kandi, Sungal, Bhimbhergali, and Naushera.

BRO Reviews Jammu-Poonch Projects

The inspection underscored the importance of these projects in boosting connectivity and fostering development in the region. Officials noted their satisfaction with the advancements made so far, attributing the success to the dedication and skill of the workforce engaged in this ambitious endeavour. The ongoing projects encompass the construction of roads, bridges, and tunnels aimed at upgrading the national highway. This upgrade is expected to significantly decrease travel times, improve links between different areas, and ensure accessibility in all weather conditions, especially given the challenging terrain and potential adverse weather scenarios.

One of the standout achievements highlighted during the review was the breakthrough in the 700-metre-long Naushera tunnel earlier in January. This tunnel is part of the strategic 200-km stretch connecting Jammu with Poonch district, marking a major milestone for the BRO in its efforts to enhance infrastructural development along this vital corridor.

The completion of these projects is eagerly anticipated by 2026, ahead of schedule. This timeline underscores the commitment and efficiency of all parties involved in bringing this critical infrastructure project to fruition. Once completed, it is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and promoting regional development across this strategically important area.
