Bored from school life, 14-year-old Delhi girl steals 38 lakh from her house; goes on shopping spree

New Delhi, Nov 2: In a shocking incident, a 14-year-old girl in Delhi stole Rs 38 lakh from her own house. Her father is a builder and he had kept huge amount of cash at his home.

Besides stealing the money, the teenage girl also made a plan for her 'abduction' and three of her friends also went missing on Thursday.

The mischievous girl was reportedly bored of her monotonous routine and wanted some adventure in her life, for which she drew inspiration from an upcoming Hollywood film.

She went on a shopping spree with her teenage friends and also fled to Dehradun for holidays.

When the investigating police officials caught hold of her, they were left astonished with the girl's statement.

For arranging the funds, she knew that her father had received Rs 38 lakh cash in a recent land deal. So, she started looking for the right time to grab the money.

One night, her parents had gone out for dinner and the girl called one of friends and barged into her father's safe room, where the money was kept.

Then, the girls booked a cab through JustDial and headed to Dehradun.

Police revealed that the girl paid Rs 11,000 for the taxi charges from Delhi to Dehradun, stayed at a luxury hotel and booked it in Rs 10,000 and she splurged extravagantly on branded footwear, dresses, bags and sunglasses (upto Rs 80,000).

When the police got the tip off from the taxi driver, they informed the hotel staff, where the girls had checked in. As suggested by the police, the hotel staff locked up the girls into their room and informed the cops.

On Saturday morning, a team of Delhi police officials reached the hotel and took the girls into their custody. They also recovered Rs 37 lakh from them.
