New Delhi, February 6: Senior advocate Chander M Lall launched his book At the Pleasure of His Majesty: I.M. Lall and The Case That Shook the Crown in the presence of several dignitaries, including Supreme Court judges Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Sanjay Karol. The book, published by Rupa Publications, explores the life and legal struggle of Inder Mohan Lall, the author's grandfather.

Book Launch at Delhi High Court

The book launch took place at the Delhi High Court auditorium and was attended by former Supreme Court judge Sanjay Kishan Kaul, the high court's Acting Chief Justice, Manmohan, and former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram wrote the foreword for the book.

Inder Mohan Lall's Challenge to British Raj

The book delves into the life of Inder Mohan Lall and his pivotal role in a landmark legal battle against the British Raj. The case, known as the High Commissioner for India and the High Commissioner for Pakistan vs. I M Lall, laid the foundation for Article 311 of the Constitution of India, which governs the dismissal, removal, or reduction in rank of persons employed in civil capacities under the Union or a State.

Justice Kohli Shares Partition Experience

During the event, Justice Kohli shared her family's experiences during the Partition of India. Her personal anecdotes provided a poignant context to the historical events discussed in the book.
