Bomb Threat To Noida Schools: Police Declare It Hoax

Several schools in Noida were thrown into panic on Wednesday after receiving bomb threat emails, which were later confirmed to be hoaxes.

Schools That Received Bomb Threats

Step By Step School, The Heritage School Noida, Gyanshree School and the Mayoor School are the four schools that received hoax bomb threat emails, the police said.

"On Wednesday morning we received information on the emergency helpline number that four schools-Step by Step, The Heritage, Gyanshree, and Mayoor School-received bomb threat mails," Hindustan Times quoted Sumit Shukla, said Noida, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), as saying.

"On getting information, a team of police comprising firefighters, bomb detection team, and dog squad checked the premises and found the mail to be a hoax", he said.

However, nothing suspicious was found in the school premises. While three of the affected schools resumed normal operations, Mayoor School declared a holiday as a precautionary measure.

The cybercrime branch has been tasked with investigating the source of the emails, though no official case has been registered yet.

Similar Incidents in the Past

This incident follows a series of similar hoax threats. On December 20 last year, a private school in Noida's Sector 126 received a bomb threat email. Three days earlier, on December 17, another school in Greater Noida faced a similar situation. More recently, on January 8, around 23 schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails, triggering widespread panic and temporary closures before authorities confirmed them as hoaxes.

Authorities are continuing their probe into the latest threats while urging the public to remain calm.
