Bollywood Shocked: Fatwa issued against AR Rahman; here's why

Mumbai, Sept 11: After their demand to ban the upcoming movie on Prophet Mohammad, a Mumbai-based Sunni Muslim group now issued fatwa against AR Rahman.

Not only AR Rahman, but the fatwa has also been issued against famous Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi whose movie, 'Muhammad: Messenger of God' is based on the first of the trilogy on life of Prophet Mohammad.

AR Rahman

Defending their move of issuing fatwa against Rahman and Majid, the group reiterated Prophet Mohammad's word that no visual or picture of him be created or kept.

Both Rahman and Majid have been asked to read the kalma again and also solemnise their marriage again. Rahman and Majid have been accused of making a mockery of Islam.

Earlier the same group had sent a notice to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The group asked the ministers to ban the movie.

In its notice, the group had written, "Firstly, the name of the prophet shouldn't be in the film's title. People use a film's name loosely, like when someone says bad things about the film, it sounds like an insult to Muhammad himself."
