Blast near Karachi kills woman suicide bomber

, Dec 19: Karachi police on Wednesday shot dead a woman suicide bomber and injured her accomplice after they tried to force their way into an imambargah on Khalid Bin Walid Road, officials said. However, there are rumours that the woman was killed in explosion and not in police firing.

According to a police official, one of the burqa-clad women blew up explosive she was carrying in her hand when the cops stopped them for frisking.

Both suicide bombers were arrested in wounded condition and shifted to a hospital where one woman succumbed to her injures.Security and rescue teams reached the scene and cordoned off the area. Police officials later confirmed that both the women were carrying explosives.

The husband of the killed woman was also killed while being taken into custody by authorities. Sources said both the women were related to each other.

Meanwhile, the police tightened the security outside the imambargah.
