Blast at Indian HC office in Chittagong

Dhaka, Nov 11: A handmade bomb was hurled at the office of Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong during a four-day nationwide shutdown that began on Sunday. The incident occurred at around 7:15pm.

There were conflicting reports over the incident, with police describing it as a blast first but later said it was just a cracker. Another reported a crude bomb blast outside the office of Assistant High Commission at Khulshi.

Mainul Islam Bhuiya, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station, said that the cracker hit the boundary wall of the office around 6:30pm, Daily Star reported.

Several blasts took place through Kajir Dewri, Alangkar, WASA, GEC, Tiger pass, Ambagan, AK Khan, City Gate and others places after evening, local and police sources said.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Banaz Kumar Majumder said the blasts were aimed to create panic through the city.He suspects the act to have been committed by hartal supporters.
