Blast At Gujarat's Firecracker Factory Claims 13 Lives

A tragic incident occurred in Gujarat's Banaskantha district when a firecracker factory near Deesa town experienced a devastating explosion. The blast, which happened around 9:45 am, resulted in the collapse of the building, claiming at least 13 lives. Rescue operations are ongoing to save those trapped under the debris.

According to Collector Mihir Patel, the explosion caused the entire RCC slab of the factory to give way. "A massive explosion took place at the factory around 9.45 am, which caused the entire RCC slab of the factory to collapse," he stated. The bodies of 13 individuals have been recovered so far, and four others are injured but stable.

Rescue Efforts Underway

Firefighters from Deesa municipality managed to extinguish the blaze that followed the blast. A rescue operation is currently in progress to free those still trapped beneath the rubble. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is also on-site, assisting with these efforts.

The explosion occurred while firecrackers were being manufactured at the facility, as per initial reports. Sub-divisional magistrate Neha Panchal mentioned that parts of the building collapsed due to the blast, trapping several people inside.

Many workers' families resided on the premises and were caught in the disaster as well. This has added an emotional toll to an already dire situation. Authorities are working tirelessly to ensure everyone is accounted for and rescued safely.
