BJP's Anil Vij Sparks Row With His Remark Amid Haryana Polls: 'I Am Senior-Most In Party'

During the polling for Haryana's 90 assembly constituencies, BJP candidate Anil Vij, running from the Ambala Cantt seat, expressed confidence that the BJP will secure victory and hinted at being a potential Chief Minister, citing his seniority within the party.

"I am senior most," said Vij, stating, "BJP will form its govt in Haryana. The CM will be decided by the party, but if the party chooses me, our next meeting will be at the Chief Minister's residence. I am the senior most in the party..."

He also mentioned that the people of Ambala would support the BJP because "the Lotus symbol means peace."

He added, "The people of Ambala want to live peacefully; they do not want hooliganism to return...Peace means the symbol of lotus...BJP will form its government in Haryana."

Regarding Kumari Selja, he remarked, "Kumari Selja is feeling suffocated in Congress, she is not being respected in the party..."

Voting began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, with 1,031 candidates contesting across the 90 constituencies. A total of 20,632 polling booths have been set up.

The election results for Haryana will be declared on October 8, alongside those of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chief Electoral Officer highlighted the deployment of 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 home guards, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPO) across the state, ensuring that "strict surveillance will be maintained at every corner of the state to allow citizens to cast their votes without fear."
