'BJP would form a majority govt in UP in 2017 state polls'
Lucknow, Nov 13: BJP leader and party in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Om Prakash Mathur on Thursday said that the party would form a majority government in the state in 2017 assembly elections.
"BJP will form a majority government in 2017," said Mathur, who is on his first visit to the state after being appointed as its party in-charge.
"Our target is to make maximum members and ensure that membership reaches every section of the society," he said.
Mathur has been appointed as UP in-charge of BJP after Amit Shah was elevated as the party's national president. Mathur, a Rajya Sabha MP, would also meet the party office-bearers in the evening.
BJP has set a target of making one crore members during the membership drive which would continue till March 31 next year. The drive would be carried out online and offline.
