BJP Unveils Assam Poll Manifesto Promising 2 Lakh Jobs, Flood-Free State And Boost To Education & Healthcare

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled its manifesto, called the 'Sankalp Patra', for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections 2026.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman released the document, outlining the party's key promises for the state.

The manifesto focuses on development, employment, education, healthcare, and the protection of Assamese identity and indigenous communities.

Key Focus: Protecting Identity and Culture

One of the main highlights of the BJP's manifesto is the promise to protect the land, heritage, and dignity of Assam's indigenous people.

Uniform Civil Code and Law & Order Measures

The BJP has promised to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Assam, with exemptions for Sixth Schedule and tribal areas.

The party also spoke about taking strong action against issues like "Love Jihad" and improving law and order in the state. These measures, leaders said, are aimed at ensuring safety and social stability.

Major Plans for Infrastructure and Healthcare

The manifesto includes several ambitious development plans:

• Making Assam flood-free with an investment of ₹18,000 crore in the first two years
• Establishing one medical college, one university, and one engineering college in each district
• Improving healthcare and education facilities across the state

These proposals are designed to improve quality of life and boost long-term development.
BJP Highlights 'Decade of Transformation'

Nirmala Sitharaman said the manifesto is based on the BJP's work in Assam over the last 10 years.

She claimed that the state has seen major improvements in growth, infrastructure, and opportunities during this period. According to her, Assam is now one of the fastest-growing states in India, with a significant rise in per capita income.

She also criticised previous governments, saying they did not focus enough on long-term development in the Northeast region.

Focus on Peace and Stability

The BJP leadership also highlighted improvements in peace and stability in Assam. Sitharaman said that better governance has helped create a more secure environment, which in turn has supported development.

The party believes that maintaining stability will be key to future growth in the state.
