BJP to Allocate One Vacant Rajya Sabha Seat to Ajit Pawar's NCP, Says Fadnavis
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that one of the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats will be allocated to the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). This decision follows the election of BJP leaders Udayanraje Bhosale and Piyush Goyal to the Lok Sabha from Satara and Mumbai North, respectively.

Rajya Sabha Seat Allocation
Fadnavis stated that while one Rajya Sabha seat will remain with the BJP, the other is likely to go to the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP. He mentioned that this allocation aligns with a prior promise made by the BJP. The final decision will be made by the BJP parliamentary board.
Criticism of Wakf Amendment Bill Opposition
In Pune, Fadnavis criticised the Congress for opposing the Wakf Amendment Bill introduced in Lok Sabha on Thursday. The bill was referred to a joint parliamentary panel after a heated debate. The Narendra Modi government has clarified that the proposed law does not intend to interfere with mosque operations.
However, opposition parties, led by Congress, argue that the bill targets Muslims and undermines the Constitution. Fadnavis accused Congress of being interested only in seizing Wakf land. "We have seen who all from the Congress grabbed Wakf land whenever there has been scam related to such land. A report to that effect had also come to the fore," he said.
Transparency in Wakf Land Management
Fadnavis claimed that the proposed bill aims to bring transparency to Wakf land management, which is why Congress opposes it. He asserted that past scams involving Wakf land have implicated Congress members, highlighting their vested interests in opposing the bill.
The BJP's decision regarding the Rajya Sabha seat allocation and its stance on the Wakf Amendment Bill reflect ongoing political dynamics in Maharashtra and at the national level. These developments are part of broader political strategies and alignments within Indian politics.
The conclusion of these matters will be closely watched as they unfold, impacting both state and national political landscapes.
