BJP Accused of Weakening Constitutional Institutions: Congress Leaders Speak Out
Congress leaders Sachin Pilot and A Revanth Reddy expressed concerns about the BJPs alleged undermining of constitutional institutions and democracy in India. They emphasized the importance of defeating the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to safeguard the nations integrity.
In a significant address at the conclusion of the Samaragni march organized by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot raised concerns about the systematic erosion of the credibility of Constitutional institutions in India by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the past decade.

BJP Accused of Undermining Democracy
Pilot asserted that the Congress party's primary focus was not on winning or losing elections, but rather on addressing the BJP's attempts to diminish the credibility of the republic and its democratic principles. He emphasized the importance of opposition parties standing together to counter the BJP's alleged misuse of agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax Department to harass opposition leaders.
Telangana Chief Minister Attacks BJP's Job Creation Claims
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, also present at the event, launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led alliance at the Centre. He criticized the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for allegedly dividing the nation and its people. Reddy urged for the defeat of the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and highlighted the alleged inaction of the BJP-led government in curbing violence targeting minorities in Manipur.
BJP's Election Manifesto Scrutiny Demanded
Reddy further questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promise of creating two crore jobs annually before coming to power in 2014. He pointed out the significant shortfall in job creation, with only 7.21 lakh jobs created according to official figures. Reddy challenged the BJP to debate their election manifestos from 2014 and 2019, highlighting the failure to fulfill election promises.
Congress Calls for Unity and Defense of Secular Values
Pilot emphasized the need for opposition parties to rise above differences and unite to protect the secular values that form the fabric of Indian society. He warned against the BJP's alleged attempts to poison young minds and divide society along caste and community lines. Pilot highlighted the importance of safeguarding democracy and addressing pressing issues such as unemployment, farmers' agitation, and farmers' income.
Criticism of Kerala's Ruling Left
Both Pilot and Reddy also criticized the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala. Pilot accused the LDF government of facing serious corruption allegations, while Reddy drew parallels between the Left government in Kerala and the previous corrupt Telangana Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in Telangana.
The Samaragni march, led by KPCC president K Sudhakaran and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly V D Satheesan, concluded with a strong message from Congress leaders about the need to protect Constitutional institutions, uphold democratic principles, and address the concerns of the people.
