BJP Slams Opposition Over Mukhtar Ansari's Death, Akhilesh Yadav Seeks SC-Monitored Probe

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded to the Opposition's criticism regarding the death of gangster-politician Mukhtar Ansari, cautioning the public about their alleged tactics of communal polarization. BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi highlighted certain regions, including Ghazipur, Mau, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, and Balia, which he claimed were previously hubs of criminal activity, suggesting a change due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts towards inclusive empowerment.

In contrast, BJP leader Sidharth Nath Singh criticized the Opposition for supporting a criminal, referring to Mukhtar Ansari. Singh emphasized Ansari's criminal record and expressed disbelief at the sympathy shown by leaders from the Samajwadi Party (SP), Congress, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav demanded a Supreme Court judge investigate Ansari's death. Mukhtar Ansari, a convicted murderer and former MLA from Uttar Pradesh, passed away on Thursday in Banda Medical College due to cardiac arrest. His family alleged foul play, claiming he was given "slow poison."

Yadav stressed the government's responsibility to protect individuals in custody and called for thorough investigations into suspicious deaths in custody. BSP president Mayawati echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the need for a high-level inquiry into Ansari's death.

Mukhtar Ansari's son, Umar Ansari, asserted that his father had been poisoned and demanded a thorough investigation through the courts. Following Ansari's death, the UP administration implemented prohibitory orders and increased security in his areas of influence.
