BJP’s Work In Himachal Better Than Us: State Congress Chief Pratibha Singh

A day after the Congress claimed that the crisis within the party in Himachal Pradesh was over, party MP and state chief Pratibha Singh said the opposition BJP's work is better than her party.

"A lot of things remain to be done in the Congress. As an MP, I keep visiting my constituency and try to interact with the local people and solve their problems. It is from their feedback that I have come to understand that the BJP's workings have been better than ours," she told news agency ANI.

Pratibha Singh claimed that she had communicated this message to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, urging him to strengthen the organization's capabilities.

She said, "From Day 1, I had been telling the CM that we will be able to face the upcoming elections only if he strengthens the organisation. This is a very tough situation for us. We can see a lot of difficulties on the ground. On the other hand, the BJP is doing a lot of things by working as per the directions of PM Modi."

The Himachal Pradesh Congress chief added, "We are on a weak footing. I can say that it is a difficult time. Still, we have to contest elections and win."

In a surprising turn of events, the Himachal Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu landed trouble after six Congress MLAs cross-voted against the party in the Rajya Sabha elections. This came as a major blow to the ruling party as BJP's Harsh Mahajan defeated Congress stalwart Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

It was followed by the resignation of Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, the son of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and an MLA from Shimla Rural. However, he backed out on his decision after party observers Bhupinder Hooda and DK Shivakumar ironed out differences.
