BJP, RSS trying to disrupt communal harmony in Tripura: CPI (M)
Prakash Karat further accused the RSS of launching a "terrible attack" on CPI(M) workers in his home state of Kerala.
Agartala, Oct 11: Ahead on Assembly elections in Tripura next year, CPI(M) leader Prakash Karat on Wednesday alleged that the BJP and RSS were helping divisive forces to disrupt communal harmony in the state.

"The BJP and RSS are helping divisive forces such as the IPFT (Indigenous People's Front of Tripura) to disrupt the communal harmony in the state. In the absence of the Congress and other political parties, the BJP is dreaming to come to power in the next Assembly election," he told a gathering of party workers here on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the 'October Revolution'.
He further accused the RSS of launching a "terrible attack" on CPI(M) workers in his home state of Kerala. Alleging that the Hindutva organisation had killed at least 85 Left activists and supporters in the southern state since 2001, Karat claimed that it was trying to deploy the same tactic in Tripura.
"It is a big challenge for us to resist the onslaught of the evil forces in Kerala and Tripura and we have accepted it. We will defend ourselves with the help of the secular and patriotic forces," he said.
Karat also alleged that there was no contribution of the BJP-RSS to the country's freedom struggle and the struggle against imperialism.
"India, with Narendra Modi as prime minister, has become a junior partner of an imperialist force like the USA. Joint military exercises are being performed using various military bases of our country, which is not acceptable," he said.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, also a politburo member of the CPI(M), said the Left and democratic forces would remain united in the north-eastern state in order to foil any conspiracy of the divisive forces.
"I call upon our leaders, activists and supporters to bravely face the attempts of the divisive forces to destabilise the communal harmony and peace in the state," he said.
