BJP Cites Modi's Forecast on Congress Reappointing Pitroda as Overseas Chief
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday shared a clip from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interview during the Lok Sabha election campaign. In the interview, Modi predicted that the Congress would reinstate Sam Pitroda, which has now come true. The BJP took a jab at the Congress for reappointing Pitroda as the chairman of its overseas wing.

Earlier in the day, the Congress reappointed US-based Sam Pitroda as the chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress. This move came weeks after he resigned following his controversial racial analogy during the election campaign, which put his party in a difficult position. The BJP had then launched a strong attack on the Congress, leading to Pitroda's resignation to ease the situation.
Congress Reinstates Sam Pitroda
The BJP criticised the Congress for what it called an election gimmick, stating that Pitroda's sacking was only temporary. "As PM Modi anticipated, the Congress sacking of Sam Pitroda was merely an election gimmick. He has now been reinstated as chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, exposing the hypocrisy of the Congress party and its leaders," said the BJP on X.
Prime Minister Modi had earlier commented in an interview that the Congress often uses leaders like Pitroda to float certain theories. "They have made their US-based guru resign now. They will bring him back after a few days," Modi had said. This statement was shared by the BJP on Wednesday to highlight what they see as Congress's predictable tactics.
BJP's Criticism of Congress
The BJP's criticism comes in light of Pitroda's reinstatement, which they argue reveals Congress's insincerity. The ruling party believes that this move shows how Congress manipulates situations for electoral gains and then reverts to their original stance once the elections are over.
Pitroda's initial resignation was seen as a strategic move by Congress to distance itself from controversy during a critical time in the election campaign. However, his quick reinstatement has led to accusations of hypocrisy from their political opponents.
The BJP's use of Modi's interview clip aims to reinforce their narrative that Congress's actions are calculated and insincere. By sharing this clip, they seek to remind voters of Modi's foresight and question Congress's integrity.
The reinstatement of Sam Pitroda has sparked renewed debate about political strategies and sincerity in Indian politics. Both parties continue to use this incident to bolster their respective narratives and appeal to their voter bases.
The situation underscores ongoing tensions between India's major political parties as they navigate public perception and electoral strategies.
